Anti-US, Pro-North Korea Student Organization Calls for Immediate Action in South Korea

wikitree Views

Who are the university students required the impeachment of President Yoon, visiting the Democratic Party’s central office?

Videos supporting the North Korean regime were posted on the YouTube channel of the Korean Progressive Student Union.

A student organization, seemingly supporting the North Korean regime, visited the Democratic Party’s central office, demanding the immediate impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. They have been confirmed to post videos on YouTube showing allegiance to North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un.

On the afternoon of the 22nd, about ten university students affiliated with the Korean University Progressive Union (KPSU) held a press conference in front of the Democratic Party’s office in Yeouido, Seoul. They stated, “In the last general election, the people voted for the opposition to judge and impeach Yoon Suk Yeol. Thanks to that, the progressive democratic forces achieved a great victory by securing 189 seats.”

They argued, “However, Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party’s representative, talked about a summit meeting (between the president and the leader of the first opposition party), saying it should help the president’s work. This is throwing a lifeline for the Yoon Suk Yeol regime, and it is an act of betraying the people’s will for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol.”

They stated, “The Yoon Suk Yeol regime is not a subject of dialogue and compromise. We can no longer continue the numerous disasters, economic crises, warfare crises, and livelihood crises that the people have experienced over the past two years.” They demanded, “The 22nd National Assembly should immediately step forward for the impeachment of President Yoon, which is the will of the people.”

They also stated, “We have no choice but to take very seriously the current actions of the Democratic Party, which is trying to abandon the responsibility and duty of impeaching President Yoon given by the people.” They strongly hoped the Democratic Party would “embrace the demands and trust of the people and show a responsible attitude.”

The students held signs with messages such as “Three years is hell.” “Impeach immediately,” and “The Democratic Party should come to its senses and accept the people’s will and chanted slogans.”

The KPSU, an extreme left student movement group with pro-North and anti-US tendencies, is classified as the most radical and extreme NL (National Liberation) faction. Unlike most NL factions that are critical of North Korea’s system and human rights issues and continuously raise labor issues, the KPSU only focuses on unification and national issues.

Knowingly, the KPSU openly worships the North Korean leader. On the KPSU’s YouTube channel, you can find posts showing allegiance to the North Korean leader and the North Korean regime, such as Kim Jong Un and University, Kim Jong Un and Succession, Kim Jong Un and New Weapons, and Kim Jong Un’s Rise.

The video Kim Jong Un and New Weapons introduces Kim’s appearance at the site of a new tactical missile test launch. The description is, “This video lets you know about the types of new weapons recently unveiled by Kim Jong Un and his stance on weapon development.”

The video titled The Yard of Kim Jong Un is accompanied by a description that reads, “This is a submission for the 4th Kim Jong Un Research Group Presentation Conference. This video shows the process of Kim Jong Un visiting the residents and calling the residents the yard of Kim Jong Un.”

The following is a post posted on Facebook by the KPSU after the press conference.

We started the press conference by saying that the summit meeting was like putting a respirator on the Yoon Suk Yeol regime, and what the Democratic Party should do now with Yoon Suk Yeol is not a conversation but leads to his impeachment.

The first speaker said that the Democratic Party, which won the general election with the public sentiment of impeaching Yoon Suk Yeol, should lead the impeachment instead of proceeding with the summit meeting. The second speaker criticized Yoon Suk Yeol for not being a conscientious person who can change even a little and should not be seen as a dialogue partner. The last speaker conveyed that there should be no compromise with a regime only interested in its interests and not the people’s livelihood.

Afterward, we read the protest letter. A Democratic Party duty officer came down and received the KPSU’s protest letter. It was the first time we saw an official receiving a protest letter, which was very rewarding. We had a good experience, and if we knock, it will open!!

Although the summit meeting was canceled, this cancellation was due to the unilateral cancellation by the presidential office, not the Democratic Party. We must continue to struggle passionately so that the Democratic Party can regain its senses, accept the public sentiment, and lead the impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol!
