Russia Strengthens Bonds with North Korea through Cultural and Diplomatic Tour

The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 24th that Pak In Chol, the Chairman of North Korea’s Supreme People’s Assembly, met with the Russian Federation Council delegation at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang on the 23rd.

Present at the meeting were Grigoriy Rapota, the head of the Russian delegation and chairman of the Russia-North Korea friendship parliamentary group, and member of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council, Ri Chol, the chairman of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Parliamentary Group and the director of the Academy of Medical Science under the Ministry of Public Health, workers from related fields, and Aleksandr Matsegora, the Russian ambassador to North Korea.

According to the news agency report, the chairmen of both countries’ friendship parliamentary groups, Rapota and Ri, met earlier and discussed ways to further exchanges and cooperation between their parliaments.

The Russian delegation visited the Fatherland Liberation War Victory Museum, the Juche Tower, and the Kangdong General Greenhouse Farm the day before. They also laid a wreath at the Liberation Tower to commemorate the Soviet army’s contribution to the liberation of Korea in 1945 and toured the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity.

Church of the Life-Giving Trinity is a Russian Orthodox Church facility established in the Rangrang District in Pyongyang in 2006. The Russian Federation Council delegation arrived in Pyongyang on the 20th.
