Petty on a New Level: Discontent Leads to Courthouse Arson Attempt

inews24 Views

A man in his 40s was dissatisfied with his court verdict and attempted to set the courthouse on fire. He was later arrested.

The Gangseo Police Station in Busan, South Korea announced on the 27th that they had arrested the suspect on charges of attempted arson and obstruction of justice.

The suspect was accused of trying to set fire by sprinkling petroleum he had brought in a plastic bottle at the security checkpoint of the Busan District Court’s Seobu Branch in Gangseo-gu, Busan around 2:17 PM on the 23rd.

A court official stopped him and the responding police subsequently arrested him.

Investigations revealed that the suspect committed such an act out of frustration after being fined KRW 1.5 million ($1,300) for assault. It was also found that he had caused disturbances at the court several times before.
