North Korea and Belarus Plan New Moves—The Inside Scoop on Their Recent Talks

On the 24th, North Korea’s Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui met with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.

State-run Rodong Sinmun reported today that the North Korean delegation at the meeting included Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vice Minister Kim Jong Gyu and other personnel from the same bureau. In contrast, the foreign minister and his delegation represented the Belarusian side.

The report stated that during the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on ways to strengthen further and develop the traditional friendly cooperative relationship between North Korea and Belarus and regional and international issues of mutual interest.

It also mentioned that on the same day, North Korea’s External Economic Relations Minister Yun Jong Ho spoke with Ryzhenkov, and sectoral discussions took place between practical officials from both countries to enhance cooperation.
