North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent condolence flowers to the funeral of Nguyen Phu Trong,  leader of its ruling Communist Party, who passed away last Friday.

The KCNA reported on the 26th that Ri Ho Jun, Charge D’affaires of the North Korean Embassy in Vietnam, laid the condolence flowers on behalf of the North Korean leader at the funeral home yesterday.

Kim Jong Un also sent flowers to the Vietnamese embassy in North Korea. Jo Yong Won, secretary of the Central Committee, visited the embassy with Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui and Director of the International Department Kim Song Nam to present Kim Jong Un’s floral tribute.

The officials who visited the Vietnamese embassy to pay their respects to Trong were the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly, Kang Yun Sok, Deputy Prime Minister Jong Myong Su, Deputy Head of the Workers’ Party Central Committee Won Kyog Ho, Deputy Defense Minister Kim Min Seob, and Deputy Foreign Minister Pak Sang Gil.

Vietnam, a socialist country, has maintained a long-standing friendly relationship with North Korea.

Kim Jong Un met with Trong during his official visit to Vietnam in 2019 for the Hanoi North Korea-U.S. summit.
