The North Korean government hosted a celebratory reception at the prestigious Okryu Restaurant to honor the athletes from both international competitions. Rodong Sinmun reported on Monday that the previous day’s gala was led by Kim Tok Hun, chair of the National Sports Guidance Committee, and was attended by key figures such as Sports Minister Kim Il Guk, Football Association Secretary General Shin Yong Chul, and Boxing Association Secretary General Kim Won Chul. The victorious athletes, their coaches, family members, and officials from relevant sectors were also present.

In his address, Premier Kim praised the athletes’ remarkable achievements. He highlighted, “Following our triumph in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, we’ve secured first place in the U-17 World Cup just 40 days later. This marks an unprecedented feat in tournament history, as we’ve lifted the World Cup trophy three times.”

The Premier went on to emphasize the broader impact of their success, underscoring that the achievements at the AIBA 2024 World Youth Boxing Championships have become a source of inspiration, reinvigorating the spirit and confidence of North Korea.
