North Korea’s state-run newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reports the country’s 2025 New Year celebration performance has drawn large crowds at Pyongyang’s May Day Stadium.

On Saturday, the newspaper detailed that the performance, divided into two parts, featured a diverse array of acts, including new hit songs that genuinely capture the sentiments of the entire population.

The program included female solo performances, ensemble renditions of “Song for the Motherland,” and mixed choir and male chorus performances of “We Are Koreans.”

On December 31, 2024, North Korea held the 2025 New Year celebration performance at the May Day Stadium on Rungra Island, Pyongyang. Kim Jong Un and his daughter, Kim Ju Ae, were in attendance. Since then, it appears that additional performances have continued.

Professor Kang Dong Wan from Dong-A University analyzes that the 2025 performance emphasizes improving citizens’ quality of life, highlighting key achievements from 2024. These include the completion of local factories, reconstruction efforts in flood-affected areas, and establishing a fish farming facility on the Sinpo coast.
