X decided not to establish a commercial partnership after careful review.
Musk’s “lack of authenticity in CNN’s approach on social media.”
The social media X (former Twitter), owned by Tesla CEO EloSocials, abruptly canceled its partnership with Don Lemon, a former CNN anchor.
According to CNBC in the US, Lemon was informed of this decision on the 13th (local time) just hours after recording an interview with Musk for the premiere of “Don Lemon Show,” which is scheduled to air on the 18th.
“I thought we had a good conversation (during the interview), but obviously, he felt differently,” he said, expressing his disappointment. “It seems that questions from people like me are not included in his promise of a global town square where we can ask anything and share any ideas.”
Lemon said, “There were no restrictions on the interview he had readily agreed to,” and explained, “My questions were polite and broad. We covered everything from SpaceX to the election.”
A source told CNN, “Lemon asked about Musk’s ketamine intake and the resulting government security clearance issues for SpaceX, as well as anti-Semitic issues. Musk was displeased with this.”
Through a statement, X also confirmed the termination of its contract with Lemon. X said, “We welcome ‘The Don Lemon Show’ to post content on X without censorship because we believe we provide a platform for creators to expand their work and connect with wider communities.” It continued, “But like any other company, we have the right to make decisions about business partnerships, and after careful review, X has decided not to establish a commercial partnership with this program.”
Musk, the CEO, said on his X account, “The show’s approach was essentially just CNN on social media, and as you can see from the fact that CNN is dying, it’s not going to work.” He explained, “It lacked authenticity because it was not the real Don Lemon but Jeff Zucker, speaking through Don’s mouth.” Jeff Zucker is the former president of CNN.
