Kia has launched a service in the North American market that allows users to customize the design of vehicle clusters and infotainment displays to suit their preferences.
Ahead of the NBA playoffs, Kia announced on Friday that it has released 30 NBA team-specific display themes in North America. These display themes are part of a personalized service that supports a customized vehicle experience by allowing changes to the color and graphics of the cluster and infotainment display, as well as animations that play when the vehicle is started and turned off.
Customers can purchase their favorite NBA team’s display theme through the Kia Connect Store and wireless (OTA, over-the-air) software updates and apply it to their vehicle’s display.
Kia introduced the display theme feature in North America on April 9, launching it with their EV9 model. The company plans to expand this feature in South Korea in the second half of this year, focusing on vehicles equipped with the next-generation infotainment system ‘ccNC’ and wireless software update capabilities.
Kia developed the display themes to accelerate the transition to SDV (software-defined vehicles) and expand available options, providing a personalized vehicle experience catering to customer preferences.
Pablo Martinez, an executive at Kia’s CXD division, said, “With the release of the display themes, customers can now upgrade their vehicle with a personal touch even after purchase. Kia plans to continue introducing various themes, innovative brand collaborations, and leading digital specifications.”
