Mercedes-Benz Group AG has successfully shaken off allegations of diesel emission manipulation.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on the 27th that it had concluded its investigation into the Mercedes-Benz diesel emission scandal and found no further allegations.
Renata Jungo Brüngger, a member of the board responsible for integrity, governance, and sustainability at Mercedes-Benz, stated in a release that the company fully cooperated with the DOJ.
“With the DOJ’s decision, we are taking another significant step towards legal certainty in various diesel procedures,” Brüngger said.
The DOJ began an internal investigation into the possibility of emission manipulation in diesel vehicles by Mercedes-Benz in 2016.
Since then, Mercedes-Benz has faced allegations of falsely advertising its BlueTEC vehicles as the cleanest and most advanced diesel cars in the world, misleading consumers.
