On June 7, 2024, British battery technology company Integral Power announced that they had developed a new cathode material that increases the driving range of electric vehicle (EV) batteries, reduces charging time, and enhances durability.
Integral Power claims that its self-developed LFP and LFMP (Lithium Iron Phosphate and Lithium Manganese Iron Phosphate) can increase energy storage capacity by up to 30% and improve discharge rates. They also stated that this innovation allows electric vehicle batteries to be smaller and lighter while also enhancing their durability.
The company emphasized one of the key advantages of their approach is sourcing raw materials from Europe and the U.S. They stated that this strategy would improve supply chain security and transparency, while also reducing geopolitical risks. Furthermore, their unique manufacturing process ensures high purity and efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 20%.
