NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has announced ambitious plans to expand the company’s presence in Vietnam. These include establishing a joint artificial intelligence (AI) research and development (R&D) center and a data center in collaboration with the Vietnamese government. Additionally, NVIDIA has acquired VinBrain, a healthcare AI startup under Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate, Vingroup.

During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Huang described the initiative as a momentous occasion for both NVIDIA and Vietnam. He noted that the day marked a significant milestone for NVIDIA and expressed pride in announcing the establishment of NVIDIA Vietnam. This new major R&D center will focus on artificial intelligence, software, and cutting-edge technology.

Huang noted that the R&D center will be supplemented by a new data center dedicated to harnessing the power of AI. He explained that the AI revolution is reshaping the tech industry’s landscape, making it an opportune moment for Vietnam to establish its presence in the AI future. Huang emphasized the importance of viewing data as a critical national resource, much like AI learns from data.

This announcement was based on Huang’s visit to Hanoi a year ago when he expressed interest in partnering with local tech firms like FPT, Vietnam’s leading IT company and supporting talent development in AI and digital infrastructure.

At the signing ceremony between NVIDIA and the Vietnamese government, Prime Minister Chinh hailed this collaboration, realized after more than a year, as a crucial milestone. He commended Huang’s resolve and commitment to making Vietnam NVIDIA’s “second home.”

Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment, also characterized NVIDIA’s investment as a historic turning point for Vietnam. He expressed confidence that it would establish Vietnam as Asia’s leading hub for AI development.
