Tesla is preparing to launch an unprecedented robotaxi service.
According to a report by Deutsche Bank on Monday, Tesla plans to roll out its robotaxi service in California and Texas next year, aligning with the company’s initial goal set earlier this year.
The EV giant will begin the service using company-owned vehicles, with human remote operators on standby to ensure safety.
Following a meeting with Chief Investment Officer Travis Axelrod, Tesla reiterated its commitment to introducing more affordable vehicles in the first half of next year, with plans to unveil additional models in the latter half.
Deutsche Bank highlighted that Tesla acknowledges the need for remote operators, at least initially, to ensure safety and redundancy. The company plans to launch the service exclusively with its own vehicles, supported by an in-house developed ride-hailing app.
In response to these developments, Deutsche Bank raised its price target for Tesla stock from $295 to $370. Tesla’s stock price remained steady at $389.79.
