Kia has officially launched its subcompact sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Syros, in India, marking a significant step in the brand’s growth in the region.
The Syros is an urban SUV designed with a bold look, spacious interior, advanced features, and smart connectivity options. Kia plans to expand its availability to markets across Asia Pacific, Central and South America, and the Middle East, with India as the first stop for sales starting next year.
The exterior of the Syros showcases Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, blending boldness with functionality. The front features a futuristic Starmap Signature LED lighting system and the iconic digital Tiger Face, giving the vehicle a powerful presence. On the side, the three-dimensional lines and 17-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels enhance its dynamic appearance, while details like the Kia logo puddle lamps and streamlined door handles add sophistication.
In terms of size, the Syros measures 3995 mm (157.3 inches) in length, 1805 mm (71.1 inches) in width, and 1625 mm (64.0 inches) in height. Its interior is built around a 2550 mm (100.4 inches) wheelbase, offering ample space, with features like sliding and reclining rear seats and a 60:40 split-folding seat configuration. The addition of front and rear ventilated seats enhances comfort for all passengers.
Kia has also packed the Syros with high-tech features, including a panoramic display with three screens. This includes a 12.3-inch HD display cluster, a 5-inch air conditioning display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system, all seamlessly connected. Other luxury touches include a double D-cut steering wheel, a dual panoramic sunroof, and ambient mood lighting.
For audio, the Syros is equipped with a Harman Kardon premium and a wireless charging system to keep devices powered on the go.
A standout feature of the Syros is its ability to receive wireless software updates, allowing customers to update vehicle software remotely without needing to visit a service center. This ensures the car’s features can be improved or expanded over time.
Kia Connect 2.0 is also integrated into the Syros. It offers SOS emergency support, real-time vehicle diagnostics, and stolen vehicle tracking, all enhancing safety and peace of mind for drivers and passengers.
Regarding safety, the Syros is loaded with advanced driver assistance systems, including forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, smart cruise control, driver attention warning, high beam assist, surround view monitor, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist. These features help drivers stay safe while navigating traffic and parking situations.
Under the hood, the Syros offers two powertrain options: a 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 120 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque and a 1.5-liter diesel engine delivering 116 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.
