Toyota unveiled a new special model, Z Raffine, in August 2024. This special model, with improved specifications for the compact hybrid Aqua, has attracted attention for its luxurious elements, which differentiate it from the existing Aqua.

In the case of Aqua, it was released in December 2011 as a hybrid-exclusive model boasting the world’s highest level of fuel efficiency. It gained explosive popularity with its reasonable price, easy-to-handle body size of a 5-number car, and interior space that comfortably accommodates 5 adults. It recorded the number 1 sales of registered vehicles in Japan. This time, we will look at the Toyota Aqua Z Raffine again.

Advanced Technology and Practical Design

The current 2nd generation Aqua was first introduced in July 2021. It is the world’s first to use a bipolar nickel-metal hydride battery and boasts an outstanding fuel efficiency of 35.8 km/L (84.2 mpg). This satisfies both energy efficiency and eco-friendliness.

In terms of body, it was manufactured based on the TNGA platform, GA-B. In terms of size, the length is 4,005 mm (157.7 inches), the width is 1,695 mm (66.7 inches), and the height is 1,485-1,505 mm (58.5-59.3 inches), which is slightly larger, but it still maintains a compact size, so it does not lose maneuverability in city driving.

Hybrid Powertrain and Versatile Drivetrain Options

The powertrain is a hybrid system combining a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. The engine produces a maximum output of 91 PS and a maximum torque of 120 N m, while the electric motor produces 80 PS and 141 N m. Together, they are applied to an electronic continuously variable transmission.

Regarding the drive system, front-wheel drive (FF) and four-wheel drive (E-FOUR) using rear-wheel motors are provided, allowing users to choose according to their preference. These drive options offer excellent stability and efficiency in various driving conditions.
