The Chevrolet Trax subcompact SUV has been named the best model in the North American market for the second consecutive year. Car and Driver unveiled its list of the 10 Best Trucks 2025, which selects the best truck, SUV, and van models 2025. The Chevrolet Trax was chosen as one of the top 10 models.

Car and Driver praised the Chevrolet Trax as having everything you need in a subcompact SUV, explaining why it was named one of the 10 Best Truck Models. The publication noted that employees’ positive feedback about the vehicle has continued over time.

In particular, the outlet reported in its column, “that rarest of things, an inexpensive vehicle that delivers greatness and value with surprising style and grace.” It emphasized that, unlike the Chevrolet models that made the previous 10 Best lists, it does not have a high-performance V8 engine or outstanding acceleration performance but rather has special value.

Car and Driver cited design as the first reason for selecting the Trax as one of the 10 Best Truck Models. The fresh design is pleasing to the eye, and the interior is also better than expected. In particular, when you get inside the vehicle, you forget it is a subcompact SUV model because the interior details are excellent. The large infotainment system is also excellent, according to Car and Driver.

Well-tuned driving performance is also the secret to winning the award for two consecutive years. Car and Driver emphasized that it boasts a supple ride quality that gently absorbs the shock of cracked roads but never undulates. It also has excellent fundamentals, such as agile handling, excellent steering feel, and powerful braking performance.

The 1.2-liter turbo engine was also evaluated to perform better than expected. Although it does not have a high power output, with a maximum output of 139 horsepower, it is analyzed to have excellent throttle response even in city driving and decent performance with a growling sound like a V6 engine. In other words, it features excellent driving performance to the point that you can feel the fun of driving even though it is an entry-level model.

The media emphasized that Trax’s price makes all these advantages stand out even more. Starting at $21,495 in the US market, Trax’s price is reasonable considering its excellent quality.

Car and Driver wrote in its column that “the word that best describes the Trax crossover is “honest,” and that the car delivers more than you’d expect for its price in almost every way. It also noted that the vehicle has been named one of the “10 Best Trucks” for two consecutive years because it offers more for less. Additionally, it highlighted that the real advantage is getting excellent quality for less.

The Chevrolet Trax is GM’s global SUV model, produced at GM’s South Korean plant. In addition to winning the 10 Best Trucks award, the Trax has proven its value in the global market by winning prestigious awards such as the Best Car of 2024 hosted by Cars.com, the No. 1 US automobile marketplace, and the 2024 US ALG Residual Value Award in the Micro SUV category selected by J.D. Power.
