Smart, a brand known for its compact electric vehicles, is officially entering the electric sedan market. This shift is significant for Smart, which has historically focused on small urban EVs, as it now looks to compete in the more significant high-performance sedan segment. The new model, #6, is set to directly compete with the Tesla Model 3, offering more than 800 kilometers (500 miles) of range and high-performance specs. It marks the start of a new level of competition in the EV market.
Powerhouse Performance: 638 HP and 0-60 MPH in 3.5 Seconds

The high-performance Brabus model of the Smart #6 boasts an impressive 638 horsepower (475 kW / 646 PS), making it the most powerful Smart model to date. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in just 3.5 seconds, putting it on par with the Tesla Model 3 Performance.
Two powertrain options will be available: a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) delivering 335 horsepower and a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) producing 597 horsepower. Additionally, two battery versions will be offered: 75 kWh and 100 kWh. The 800V architecture in some models supports ultra-fast charging at up to 400 kW, ensuring quick recharging times.
The vehicle is expected to offer a range of over 500 miles based on the Chinese CLTC standard, which should be similar to the Tesla Model 3 Long Range under the European WLTP standard.
Mercedes-Benz Design Influence with a Futuristic Twist

Kai Sieber’s team at Mercedes-Benz is leading the design of the Smart #6, ensuring a high level of expertise and style. While the #6 will retain Smart’s signature design elements, it will feature a more refined and aerodynamically optimized body.
Key design elements include a sleek roofline and frameless doors. The overall aesthetic aligns with the design language seen in Smart’s previous models, like the #1, #3, and #5. The sedan will be equipped with wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches and showcase advanced infotainment systems and digital interfaces, underscoring its status as a premium electric sedan.
Smart’s Ambitious Global Launch in 2026

The Smart #6 is set to make its official debut in 2025, with sales beginning in early 2026. Initially, it will launch in Europe and China, with plans to expand to more than 10 countries, including South America and Africa markets. As Smart transitions from being known for compact electric vehicles to competing in the high-performance electric sedan market, all eyes are on how the Smart #6 will perform against heavy hitters like the Tesla Model 3 and the emerging Zeekr 007. The industry eagerly awaits how this new chapter will unfold for the brand.
