newsade Views

As we enter the year of the Blue Dragon in 2024, several stars are set to return from their military service in Korea.

From BTS to actors Kang Tae-oh and Cha Seo-won, the wait for their return to the public eye is almost over.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of these stars who have dutifully completed their military service.

So, which male celebrities are set to make their grand return this year?

BTS’s Jin and J-Hope

BTS went on a military hiatus when members Jimin and Jungkook enlisted in December last year. Jin, the oldest member and the first to enlist, is set to return from his active duty service in the army on June 12.

Jin has been serving as a training instructor and has been selected as a ‘special warrior’ for his exemplary military life, earning him two early promotions.

Following Jin, J-Hope, who enlisted second, is set to return on October 17. Both are expected to kickstart their comeback activities with solo projects.

Actor Kang Tae-oh

Kang Tae-oh, who enlisted to serve his military duty a month after the end of the ENA’s ‘Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo’ in 2022, will complete his 18-month military service and return on March 19.

Kang Tae-oh, who received much love for his role as ‘Lee Jun-ho’ in the drama, caused much disappointment among fans when he enlisted.

Through his Instagram, he expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming love and support, promising to return safely and assuring fans that they would see him soon.

Actor Cha Seo-won

Cha Seo-won, who made headlines with the announcement of his marriage and pregnancy with actress Um Hyun-kyung, is set to return on May 21.

His last work before enlisting, TVING’s ‘Unintentional Love Story,’ received much love, raising expectations for his post-discharge activities.

Cha Seo-won, who became a father while serving in the military, plans to hold a wedding ceremony with Um Hyun-kyung after his discharge.

Actor Ong Seong-wu, a ‘Wanna One’ alumnus

Actor Ong Seong-wu, a former member of ‘Wanna One,’ is set to return on October 13.

After making his debut as a member of the project group Wanna One through Mnet’s survival program ‘Produce 101 Season 2,’ he officially debuted as an actor through JTBC’s ‘Moment of Eighteen’ after the group’s disbandment.

He is currently serving his military duty after enlisting as an active duty soldier last April. In his last work before enlisting, Ong Seong-wu delivered a stellar performance as Detective ‘Kang Hyung-sik’ in JTBC’s ‘Strong Woman Kang Nam-soon.’

In addition, his pre-filmed movies are set for release.

Actor Nam Joo-hyuk

Actor Nam Joo-hyuk, who enlisted last March, is set to complete his military service on September 19.

After passing the mobile unit of the military police force before enlisting, he received five weeks of basic military training and is currently serving his duty at the 32nd Division’s military police unit.

Before enlisting, he finished filming the Disney+ original series ‘Vigilante’ and entered the army training center last March.

With the success of ‘Vigilante’ released in November, there’s a lot of interest in his return to the screen in the second half of this year.

Winner’s Song Min-ho and Kang Seung-Yoon

‘Winner’ members Song Min-ho and Kang Seung-yoon are set to be discharged in December.

In 2020, fellow members Kim Jin-woo and Lee Seung-hoon enlisted and completed their service. Song Min-ho began his alternative military service as a social service agent on March 24 last year.

Finally, the youngest member Kang Seung-yoon entered the training center last June. As a result, Winner decided to take a temporary break from team activities until Kang Seung-yoon completes his military duty.
