Chinese actress Mao Xiaohui has publicly apologized, saying, “I’m sorry for being so ugly.”

Recently, Mao Xiaohui, who played the role of Meng Li in the new Chinese martial arts drama _Swordplay 4_, received criticism from netizens after the broadcast.

Netizens left negative comments such as “She’s too listless,” “I thought she was playing a visually impaired person because there’s no life in her eyes,” “She has the same expression in every scene,” “Meng Li should be beautiful,” “She looks so different from the still cut,” and “Her face is too puffy.”

In response, Xiaohui posted an apology saying, “I’m sorry for being so ugly. I actually lost weight by dieting at that time, but I looked too fat on screen. I’m fat. Why is this so hard?”

She continued to post messages such as “I’m sorry, everyone,” “Meng Li has disappointed you,” and more.

As a result, public sympathy has started to grow for Xiaohui, who is receiving excessive criticism for her appearance and acting.

This is not the first time Xiaohui has been criticized for her appearance.

In 2019, when Xiaohui was cast as Little Dragon Girl in _New Love for the Dead_, there was a casting controversy with comments like “She’s too different from Liu Yifei, who played Little Dragon Girl in 2006,” and “She’s trying to play a beautiful character with an ordinary appearance.”

Eventually, the drama was postponed due to various problems, including the casting controversy.
