[TV Report=Han Ah Reum reporter] Singer Qu Wanting, who caused great controversy due to her mother’s accepting bribery of 18.7 billion won ($16 million) while working as a Chinese government official is again facing public criticism.

On the 31st of last month (local time), foreign media “ETtoday” reported that Chinese singer Qu Wanting had admitted to being a vegetarian and said, “Eating meat is cruel to animals,” which angered the Chinese public.

On the 28th of last month, Qu Wanting posted a video on her social media with the caption, saying, “I wanted to show this video to my father.” Qu Wanting said, “I have been a vegetarian for 4 years, but my father doesn’t believe that one can live healthily without eating any animal products. I was not healthy when I consumed meat, dairy products, eggs, and seafood.” She concluded her post by saying, “I learned about animal abuse and its environmental impact. After that, I realized that I could live well in this world.”

Qu Wanting’s mother, who once served as a Chinese government official in Heilongjiang Province, was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of accepting bribes worth 440 million Taiwanese dollars (approximately $16 million).

After Qu Wanting’s post was shared on Weibo, she faced severe criticism. The Chinese public responded negatively, saying, “It’s hypocritical to suck people’s blood and communicate with animals,” “Return the embezzled money,” and “The money your mother embezzled is the hard-earned money of the common people.”

On the other hand, Qu Wanting’s hit song “You Exist in My Song” has recorded 100 million views on YouTube, achieving great success.
