YG Entertainment’s rookie girl group, BABYMONSTER, has made a record-breaking debut with their first album, successfully taking their first step in the global music market.

According to the Hanteo Chart on the 8th, BABYMONSTER’s first mini-album, BABYMONS7ER, sold 401,287 copies from April 1st to April 7th. This is the highest initial sales figure for a K-pop girl group’s debut album.

“BABYMONS7ER” showed signs of formidable popularity with over 460,000 pre-orders. This reflects the formation of a core fandom through diverse original content and the unique anticipation for their musical world, inherited from YG DNA.

The final sales volume is expected to increase since BABYMONSTER has just started its full-scale activities. YG also mentioned that some overseas export volumes have not yet been counted.

Not only in album sales, but BABYMONSTER also stands out in various global charts. Their first mini-album topped the iTunes Worldwide Album Chart, and the title song, “SHEESH,” reached 69th on Spotify’s Daily Top Song Global Chart, setting the highest entry record for a K-pop girl group this year.

True to their title as the next-generation YouTube Queens, the “SHEESH” music video is immensely popular. Upon release, it shot straight to the most viewed video within 24 hours and quickly seized the top of the YouTube Global Weekly Chart. The view count is rapidly increasing, surpassing 76.95 million views and reaching 100 million views.

Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER will engage with local fans through diverse content, such as TV appearances, fan signing events, etc., using this album as a starting point. They will also expand their activities into the global market through fan meeting tours in five Asian regions, including Tokyo, Jakarta, Singapore, Taipei, and Bangkok. They will also appear at Japan’s largest music festival, Summer Sonic 2024.
