The music video for BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” has reached over 2.2 billion views on YouTube, setting a record for the highest number of K-pop music video views.
According to YG Entertainment, on May 27, BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” music video surpassed 2.2 billion views on YouTube at around 3:12 PM that day. It has been approximately five years and eleven months since its release on June 15, 2018.
This is the highest number of views for a K-pop group’s music video on YouTube, which is expected to continue climbing.
BLACKPINK has been changing the leading digit of the hundred million views approximately every 6 to 10 months.
“DDU-DU DDU-DU” is the title track of BLACKPINK’s first mini album, Square Up. The song gained worldwide popularity with its catchy chorus and iconic gun-shooting dance move. In 2018, it was the most-viewed K-pop music video worldwide.
The song’s streaming numbers were impressive in South Korea and on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100 singles charts, where it ranked #40 and #5,0, respectively, setting the best record for a K-pop girl group then. It is also making a name on the world’s largest music streaming platform, Spotify, with a cumulative streaming count of nearly 700 million.
BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel has over 93.8 million subscribers, the highest number worldwide. It has 45 videos with over 100 million views, and the cumulative view counts of its content has exceeded 35.6 billion.
