Amidst the emergency press conference where EXO-CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin) announced a new legal dispute with SM Entertainment, Baekhyun shared his thoughts with fans at a recent concert.

At the 2024 Asia Tour in Hong Kong on June 10, Baekhyun shared, “I will always think of EXO-L (EXO’s fan club name). We established this company to be able to meet with our fans more often and reach more of our dreams.”

He continued, “I will always strive to stay close to EXO-L. I don’t have big dreams. 1NB100 (EXO-CBX’s independent label) doesn’t have to be a huge company. I don’t have such ambitions.”

He added, “I will honor my commitment to EXO-L who love me. I will communicate with you all in more ways, closer to my heart.”

Baekhyun expressed, “I want to be free. I want to meet you all as much as I want without limitations. My intentions are pure.”

He also shared, “I’m happy enough to be recognized by the people here tonight. Let’s have our secret get-togethers. I won’t change. Even as time passes, I hope I’ll still be wagging my tail like a puppy in front of you all,” which drew cheers from the fans.

Finally, he expressed, “I wanted to say I’m sorry and apologize to you all.”

EXO-CBX held a press conference denouncing SM Entertainment’s unfair treatment. Cha Ga Won, the chairwoman of One Hundred, the parent company of INB100, Kim Dong Jun, INB100’s president, and Attorney Lee Jae Hak of Lin Law Firm were in attendance.

EXO-CBX claimed, “SM promised to reduce the album distribution fee to 5.5% for INB100, but they failed to comply, unfairly demanding 10% of the individual sales from album, concert, and advertising activities from the artists.” They emphasized, “Individual sales are for the artists to increase their income through their new independent label. SM has no contribution to these sales, and thus, has no right to demand a share.”

Last June, EXO-CBX announced a legal response to SM Entertainment’s unfair long-term contracts and inability to provide requested documentation of their earnings but later settled the dispute. In January, EXO-CBX established INB100 and declared independence, while agreeing to participate in EXO group activities.

SM Entertainment responded to EXO-CBX’s press conference, stating, “EXO-CBX’s claims will not be tolerated and we will take legal action to hold EXO-CBX accountable for repeated claims that the exclusive contract and the agreement are invalid for their profit.”
