Hollywood’s Next Big Hits: Top 10 Upcoming Movies You Can’t Miss

daily Views

The film industry is rapidly changing. Big-budget blockbusters that used to draw attention are now failing at the box office, while low-budget films released on OTT platforms are unexpectedly becoming hits. Despite this, many upcoming films are gearing up to hit theaters, aiming to overcome the slump. Let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated upcoming releases.

Twisters

Twisters is a sequel that comes 28 years after the original Twister. It’s a disaster blockbuster about storm chaser Kate Cooper and controversial influencer Tyler Owens, who team up to confront a tornado head-on. The cast includes Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos. After several director changes during the production phase, the final director chosen was Korean-American Lee Isaac Chung, who directed the film Minari.

Alien: Romulus

The seventh installment of the beloved Alien series, Alien: Romulus, is set to release soon. This is the first Alien movie since the Walt Disney Company acquired 21st Century Fox. Directed by Fede Alvarez, who made a name for himself worldwide with Don’t Breathe, it stars Cailee Spaeny, the winner of the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.

Joker: Folie à Deux

The much-anticipated sequel to the global sensation Joker, titled Joker: Folie à Deux, is coming soon. Joaquin Phoenix returns as the Joker, and the title, meaning Madness for Two, suggests a deep dive into the relationship between the Joker and Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga. Fans of the Batman series can also expect a possible appearance from Harvey Dent during his prosecutor days.

Kraven the Hunter

Independently from Marvel, Sony is building its Sony Spider Universe centered around Spider-Man characters. The upcoming Kraven the Hunter is the sixth film in the Sony Spider Universe. It tells the story of the world’s greatest hunter who, after being defeated by a lion during a hunt, is reborn as a villain with powerful abilities. The character of Kraven the Hunter is played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Venom: The Last Dance

The film that made the Sony Spider-Man Universe possible was Venom. The third film in the Venom series, Venom: The Last Dance, is set to be released before Kraven the Hunter. Tom Hardy, who has been the lead in the series, will reprise his role as Eddie Brock in this film. The CEO of Sony Pictures has announced that this film will be the last one in the Venom series. Rumors suggest that Peter Parker, who hasn’t appeared in the Sony Spider-Man Universe so far, might appear.

Deadpool and Wolverine

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has faced challenges recently, with consecutive releases receiving poor reviews and failing to hit box office targets. The Marvels even recorded the worst performance in MCU history. However, the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine aims to break this trend. It will be the first R-rated film in the MCU.

Gladiator II

The sequel to the Gladiator, which was released in 2000, is set to be unveiled. The film, titled Gladiator 2, will tell the story of Lucius, the nephew of Commodus. The role of Lucius will be played by Paul Mescal, who was recognized for his acting skills in After Sun. Not DreamWorks Pictures, which produced the original, but Paramount Pictures, which acquired the rights to Gladiator, will distribute the film in North America. The cast includes Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Derek Jacobi, and Pedro Pascal.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Thirty-six years after Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice debuted, a sequel is finally on its way. Michael Keaton will return in his iconic role as Beetlejuice, with Winona Ryder and rising star Jenna Ortega also starring. The journey to this sequel has been fraught with challenges; previous attempts to launch a follow-up in the 1990s and again in 2011 fell through.

Wicked: Part One

A live-action film of the musical Wicked is set to be released. Wicked is a rare two-woman musical on Broadway. It tells the story of Elphaba (played by Cynthia Erivo), who has yet to discover her true power, and Glinda (Ariana Grande), who has yet to discover her true nature, as they build their friendship and face unexpected crises and adventures. The film adaptation will be released in two parts to capture the extensive storyline fully.

Mufasa: The Lion King

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic, The Lion King, focuses on Simba’s journey, with his father playing a pivotal role in the early part of the film. A prequel, Mufasa: The Lion King, is set to be released, putting the spotlight on Mufasa’s youth. Directed by Barry Jenkins, known for his work on Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk, this upcoming film is generating significant buzz.
