The protagonist of the “Slickback Challenge,” which went viral worldwide with a video that seems like levitating, has been revealed.

Recently, a video titled “[Meeting the Levitating Man] 9-second video currently the hottest topic worldwide… Slickback is the best, first interview” was posted on the YouTube channel “Status Olympics.”

The protagonist, who rose to worldwide fame with a mere 9-second video that garnered 160 million views in just three days, is Hyo Chul Lee, a student at Yongsan Middle School in Daegu.

Kim Hyung Jun, who posted Lee’s video, was surprised and said, “At first, we posted it as a joke and thought it would be a hit in Korea. But we never expected it to be number one worldwide.”

The ‘Slickback’ video of Lee, posted on his friend’s TikTok account, has garnered over 200 million views on TikTok alone, which happened in less than 10 days.

Kim Hyung Jun said, “When I saw him doing the Slickback, I thought, ‘Wow, what’s this?’ The more I watched, the more I thought, ‘This is a talent that shouldn’t be confined to Korea.'”

In response to the secret of his levitating walk, Lee said, “People say that if you jump on your heels, you seem to float a little. If you lift your heels and push repeatedly a bit faster, it works.”

Lee added, “Thank you for the great interest. I will continue to post videos frequently.”

On the 27th, the official Instagram of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block posted, “[Breaking News] ‘200 million views Slickback boy’ appears on You Quiz with good rhythm, the world’s first Gutgeorijangdan Rhythmic Cycle Slickback (feat. Mom) shown..” and “11/1 [Wed] 8:45 PM You Quiz” was posted.

Netizens who saw this responded with comments such as “Wow, 200 million views on TikTok + You Quiz appearance, that’s crazy”, “You Quiz. Look at their casting power”, “It really looks like he’s floating,” “It’s amazing no matter how many times I see it.. he’s even made it to You Quiz”, “I knew they would cast him on You Quiz,” and “He looks like he’s levitating.”
