K-pop group Seventeen is set to become the first K-pop artist to take the stage at the UNESCO headquarters.

According to their agency, Pledis Entertainment, Seventeen will attend the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, on November 14th.

On this day, Seventeen is scheduled to give a speech and perform for about an hour.

The UNESCO Youth Forum is an international event where young representatives from various countries gather to share their opinions and experiences and seek solutions to the problems faced by their generation.

Although BTS has previously participated in the Korea: Three-Dimensional Imagination exhibition held at the UNESCO headquarters, Seventeen is the only K-pop artist to conduct an entire session at a UNESCO General Conference-level event.

With this, Seventeen has not only emerged as an icon representing young people worldwide but has also secured the title of ‘the first artist to be invited alone to the UNESCO Youth Forum.’

The main hall where the speech will take place is especially significant as it is the largest and most historic space at the UNESCO headquarters.

Seventeen announced that they plan to deliver the message that “solidarity and education among the youth can change the future of the youth and the earth” through this speech.

Furthermore, they are expected to suggest roles that young people can play for sustainable development based on the individual experiences of the members, raising expectations.

Regarding this, the label HYBE said, “It is significant for a South Korean artist, who has sprouted the buds of reconstruction from the horrors of war through UNESCO’s educational support 70 years ago, to send a message of hope through solidarity and education to young people around the world.” They expressed their feelings about participating in the Youth Forum.

They added, “We expect Seventeen to solidify their status and position as the top K-pop group by expanding their influence not only as singers but also as global speakers representing the young generation.”

So far, Seventeen has sung about the conflicts and wanderings of youth based on the solid determination to ‘fight and overcome together instead of despairing and giving up.’

They have also continuously informed that young people can be the subject of educational reform through the Going Together (#Going Together) education campaign with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO.

Moreover, they have exerted a positive influence by contributing the proceeds from the ‘Bongbongi’ font inspired by their official light stick, and a portion of their world tour concert proceeds to support education in Malawi, Africa.

At fan meetings, they operated campaign promotion booths. They encouraged fans to pay attention to the support for marginalized groups and the future of education, showing the actual image of a campaigner.

Meanwhile, Seventeen released their 11th mini-album, SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, on the 23rd and continues their comeback activities.
