The identity of a YouTuber with 960,000 subscribers, who staged a drama claiming to find a hair in a hamburger at a restaurant to get a refund, has been revealed. It was none other than ‘Velvet Tube’.

The Chuncheon District Court (Judge Kim Taek-sung) announced on the 31st of last month that it had fined A (27), who was indicted on charges of fraud, 5 million won (approximately $4,200). A is known as the YouTuber ‘Velvet Tube’ with 960,000 subscribers.

Here’s the inside story. On August 6th last year, Velvet Tube, along with her mother, ordered food at a hamburger shop in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do. Despite no hair in the food, they claimed there was and demanded a refund, receiving 27,800 won (approximately $23). They were taken to court on charges of gaining financial benefit through this act.

Velvet Tube’s mother showed a tissue with hair on it to the staff of the hamburger shop, demanding a refund. However, after analyzing CCTV footage, it was confirmed that the mother and daughter duo had staged the fraud by taking a hair from a blanket hung on the back of a chair and placing it on the tissue.

Yet, Velvet Tube showed no signs of remorse. She insisted on her innocence and demanded a formal trial. The court, based on the CCTV footage, imposed a fine of 5 million won (approximately $4,200) and ordered Velvet Tube to bear all legal costs.

The court stated, “The crime method is awful, and regardless of the amount of money embezzled, the mental pain and damage that restaurant workers experience due to such crimes can be considerable. Yet, the defendant is not remorseful, so severe punishment is necessary.”

Previously, Velvet Tube stated on her SNS channel about the hamburger hair incident, “Our family has never intentionally put hair in a hamburger. I will speak in detail during the investigation. The result will be revealed.”

Velvet Tube is a YouTuber with 960,000 subscribers. She mainly posts videos of herself in outfits that highlight or reveal her chest, swimming, riding cows, traveling, and cooking.
