Movie ‘Mean Girls,’ Official Trailer for the Musical Movie ‘Mean Girls’

Fans are voicing their dissatisfaction with the male lead in the movie adaptation of the musical Mean Girls.

On the 8th, the first teaser trailer for the movie version of the musical Mean Girls was released. The film is neither a remake nor a sequel but borrows the same story and setting from the original Mean Girls movie, released in 2004. It is essentially a musical revival of the original film and is set to premiere in 2024.

Mean Girls is a teen comedy about the main character, Cady Heron (played by Lindsay Lohan), who transfers to a high school and gets involved in a feud over Aaron Samuel (played by Jonathan Bennett), a male student, with Regina (played by Rachel McAdams), who is called the ‘plastics’ within the school.

In particular, the handsome looks of actor Jonathan Bennett at the time of the film’s release were widely discussed, and he became the object of many female students’ admiration in the film due to his ‘flower boy’ looks. Many fans expressed high expectations for the actor who would play Aaron Samuel in this movie, but disappointment has been growing since the trailer was released. The actor who plays Aaron in this movie is Christopher Brendan.

Netizens have expressed disappointment, with comments like “It’s not as good as I expected” and “Bring back Jonathan Bennett!” suggesting that Brendan does not fit the typical American standard of a handsome man.

However, some have expressed anticipation for the unique actor and showed enthusiasm for the fact that Mean Girls is being released as a musical version.

Meanwhile, the musical version of Mean Girls will feature actors including Angourie Rice (as Cady Heron), Renee Rapp (as Regina George), Bebe Wood (as Gretchen), Avantika Vandanapu (as Karen), and Ashley Park (as Madam Park). It will also introduce many new actors not commonly seen in other films. The film is set to be released in theaters worldwide on January 12, 2024.
