K-pop girl group aespa is making headlines with their new mini-album Drama, which major foreign media outlets have highly praised.
The Associated Press (AP), the largest news agency in the United States, expressed their admiration on their official website on the 10th (local time), stating, “aespa is a group that showcases innovative transmedia storytelling to match their futuristic pop sound.” They added, “With ‘Drama,’ aespa continues to prove their uniqueness.”
The British music and fashion magazine CLASH also praised aespa, saying, “aespa, a powerful hitter in K-pop, has drawn immediate attention since their debut in November 2020 with their metaverse worldview featuring avatars. Now, with their fourth mini-album ‘Drama,’ aespa is showcasing dazzling dimensions with elements of pop, rock, and even hyper pop.”
They continued, “This album is a welcome expansion of the aespa universe, emphasizing the members’ excellent vocal skills and versatile musicality, making listeners expect more.”
aespa’s fourth mini-album Drama, released on November 10th, has proven its global popularity by topping the digital album sales charts of China’s most prominent music platforms, QQ Music and KuGou Music, achieving Double Platinum Album certification awarded by QQ Music for albums that have achieved sales of 2 million yuan ($314,000), as well as topping the overall/Korean music video chart and the rising chart.
Meanwhile, aespa will celebrate their third anniversary by holding the 2023 aespa FAN MEETING <MY DRAMA> at the Peace Hall of Kyung Hee University in Seoul at 8 p.m. on the 17th, where they will meet with fans.
