Global pop star Jung Kook has dominated the U.S. Billboard charts, setting a new record.
According to the latest chart announced by U.S. music specialist Billboard on November 14th (Korean time), a total of four songs from BTS Jung Kook’s solo album GOLDEN, including the title track “Standing Next to You,” solo singles “Seven (feat. Latto)”, “3D (feat. Jack Harlow)”, and the collaboration track “TOO MUCH” with The Kid LAROI and Central Cee, have made it onto the main song chart Hot 100.
“Standing Next to You” entered the Hot 100 at No. 5, becoming Jung Kook’s sixth Hot 100 song as a solo artist. In this chart, “Seven” re-entered at No. 49, “3D” rebounded 42 steps to No. 58 compared to last week, and “TOO MUCH” ranked at No. 94.
In addition, GOLDEN‘s tracks “Yes or No” (No.4), “Hate You” (No.7), and “Shot Glass of Tears” (No.10) were included in the Bubbling Under Hot 100. The Bubbling Under Hot 100 is a chart that ranks songs that unfortunately did not make it onto Billboard’s main song chart, Hot 100.
“Standing Next to You” swept the Global 200 and Global (Excluding the U.S.), which rank based on streaming and sales in over 200 countries/regions worldwide. Notably, Jung Kook is the first solo artist worldwide to have more than three songs on the top of both ‘Global’ charts in a single year, with “Seven,” “3D”, and now “Standing Next to You.” In 2021, BTS was the only group to achieve this with “Butter,” “Permission to Dance,” and the collaboration song “My Universe” with Coldplay. Thus, Jung Kook is the only artist in the world to hold this record as a group member and solo artist.
This week, all tracks from GOLDEN charted on Global 200 and Global (Excluding the U.S.), proving that Jung Kook’s first solo album has significantly impacted the U.S. music market.
In Digital Song Sales, “Standing Next to You” took first place, while “Seven” and “3D” re-entered at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively. “Yes or No” (No.4), “Hate You” (No.5), “Please Don’t Change (feat. DJ Snake)” (No.8), “Closer to You (feat. Major Lazer)” (No.10), “Somebody” (No.12), “Shot Glass Of Tears” (No.13), “Too Sad To Dance” (No.15) and other tracks from the new album were all in the top ranks.
With GOLDEN, Jung Kook entered the main album chart Billboard 200 at No. 2, tying for the highest ranking for a K-pop solo artist. GOLDEN took first place in both Top Sales Album and Top Current Album.
Meanwhile, Jimin and V enjoy a long Billboard chart run. In the Global 200, Jimin’s solo album FACE‘s title track “Like Crazy” ranked at No. 96, and V’s solo album Layover‘s “Slow Dancing” ranked at No. 134. In Global (Excluding U.S.), “Like Crazy” ranked at No. 58, “Slow Dancing” at No. 75, and V’s solo album track “Love Me Again” at No. 163. Layover ranked No. 23 and No. 18 in Top Sales Album and Top Current Album, respectively.
