Plane and car collide
A Hyundai Sonata was involved in a collision with an airplane making an emergency landing.
Recently, a Sonata driver in McKinney, Texas, had a surreal experience when his car collided with an airplane making an emergency landing.
The accident occurred just outside the Aero Country Airport when a small plane veered off the runway during landing, broke through a fence, and entered a public road.
The McKinney Fire Department responded to a call at 12:30 p.m. on the 11th (local time). The Lancair IV-P airplane had taken off from Midland, about 330 miles (531km) away from McKinney.
The pilot was landing at the Aero Country Airport for the first time. Some witnesses claimed the accident was due to a brake failure on the plane, while others said the aircraft veered off the runway because the reverse thrust did not work during landing.
According to U.S. media outlet WFAA, the cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration. The fire department said the plane was making an emergency landing in McKinney and plans to reveal why it could not slow down.
At the scene, two airplane passengers and the car driver were examined. Only the car driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Jack Schneider, working nearby, captured the scene on video and reported that the woman in the car was slightly shocked.
The video of the accident shows how fast the plane passed the runway. Despite hitting the fence, the aircraft hardly slowed down and collided with the Sonata, as captured in the video.
