President Yoon Makes New York Times’ Most Stylish People of 2023 List

President Yoon Suk Yeol and the girl group NewJeans have been selected as two of the 71 Most Stylish People of 2023 by The New York Times, Yonhap News reported on the 7th.

The New York Times commented on this year’s selection: “While some of the chosen individuals may not be public figures, all of the selected subjects have sparked conversations about what they wear, how they live, and how they express themselves.”

According to the report, The New York Times selected President Yoon as one of the Most Stylish People of 2023 on the 6th (local time) and posted a photo of him singing “American Pie” at the White House during his visit to the U.S. in April.

The New York Times explained the background of selecting President Yoon, “His flawless performance of ‘American Pie’ at the White House rivaled ‘American Idol.'”

President Yoon made headlines during his visit to the U.S. in April by singing Don McLean’s “American Pie” at a state dinner at the White House.

The New York Times also selected the girl group NewJeans as another Korean figure among the most stylish people of the year.

The New York Times explained the background of selecting NewJeans, “The members of NewJeans, wearing bunny ear hats, topped the Billboard charts with a sound inspired by late 1990s and early 2000s R&B. They also stood out in various ways, including being the first female K-pop singers to perform at Lollapalooza.”
