The United States Geological Survey (USGS) announced on the 3rd that the estimated number of deaths related to the earthquake in Hualien, Taiwan, will be between 10 and 100.
USGS also classified the earthquake’s death toll and economic loss as a yellow alert, which indicates a regional-level response. In essence, the damage is believed to be somewhat confined to a particular area.
The agency also estimated that the economic losses from the earthquake would be between $10 million and $100 million.
According to Taiwanese authorities, the current death toll is known to be 9. There are 946 injured and 137 isolated.
