According to TASS, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko declared on Sunday, “Seoul must realize that the possible use of South Korean weapons to kill Russian citizens will fully destroy relations between our countries. Of course, we will respond in every way that we find necessary. It is unlikely that this will strengthen the security of the Republic of Korea itself.”
This statement follows the South Korean government’s announcement on November 7 that it might reconsider its approach to supporting Ukraine. Seoul specifically mentioned that it would not rule out the possibility of providing weapons, depending on the extent of North Korean involvement in the conflict. Rudenko’s remarks represent the first official stance from the Russian Foreign Ministry since this announcement.
Rudenko accused the United States and its Western allies of increasing tensions in Asia, stating that the U.S. and several European countries are deliberately escalating tensions in the Taiwan Strait. He compared this to their strategy of encouraging Ukraine to confront Russia, suggesting that their ultimate goal is to isolate Russia.
