Outbound shipments reached $30.1 billion in the Oct. 1-20 period, compared with $32.7 billion tallied over the same period last year, according to the data from the Korea Customs Service.

Imports went down 2.3 percent on-year to $32.9 billion over the cited period, resulting in a trade deficit of $2.8 billion, the data showed.

In September, exports jumped 12.7 percent from a year earlier to $65.95 billion on strong demand for semiconductors, reaching an all-time high for the first time in 3 1/2 years. (Yonhap)
