Efficient Tomato Cutting Method: Is it Really This Simple?

Let’s Explore Cutting Tomatoes Like Pros!

Do you have those foods or fruits you rarely buy with your money, but when someone else does, you enjoy them to the fullest? The Culinary Brothers usually enjoy various foods and fruit, but it seems like we don’t buy vegetables often!

However, things have changed lately. We’ve started a diet and are trying to incorporate more vegetables and salads into our meals. As we consume more healthy vegetables, we’re feeling a positive impact on our health.

With smaller portions for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we often find ourselves feeling hungry in between. At these times, a small serving of vegetables or fruit helps us avoid overeating during the next meal. That’s why these days, we often turn to “tomatoes.”

Perfect for a Weight Loss!

Tomatoes are rich in vitamins and minerals, great for your skin, and have a low-calorie count, ranging from 16 to 20 calories per 100g. Among fruits, tomatoes have the lowest calories, making them a favorite among those on a diet.

On a KBS program called Vitamin, doctors once mentioned that people who eat tomatoes tend to stay healthy and visit hospitals less frequently. Tomatoes were humorously referred to as the number one vegetable that doctors dislike. This reflects just how beneficial tomatoes can be for your health!

When you’re cutting tomatoes to enjoy their health benefits, the issue of juice and pulp often making a mess on your cutting board can be pretty frustrating. If you don’t cut tomatoes properly, you might not get all the nutrients you should!

That’s why the Culinary Brothers want to introduce you to the perfect way to cut tomatoes without any juice or pulp spillage. We’ll compare photos of correctly sliced tomatoes before and after, so read on!

So, are you ready to learn how to cut tomatoes beautifully? Let’s get started!

Juicy Mess Everywhere! When You Cut Tomatoes Conventionally

How do you usually cut tomatoes, folks? The Culinary Brothers often cut them into cross-shaped (+) pieces or into five parts. However, cutting them this way can leave your cutting board messy with juice and pulp. We think it’s almost like eating the pulp along with the tomato!

It’s a waste not to use this pulp to maximize your nutrient intake. We recommend cutting just two specific parts of the tomato: the top and the bottom.

Pay Attention to the Top Part!

To cut the top part of the tomato properly, look for the stem. When you remove it, you’ll notice a faint depression on the tomato’s surface.

Whether this depression leads to five or six sections depends on the tomato, so check it each time. By cutting along this indentation, you can avoid the pulp and juice while preserving the fruit inside.

How About the Back?

If you examine the back of the tomato closely, you’ll see a few small lines. Just follow these lines while cutting!

This method keeps your tomato clean and neat, preventing juice from flowing out.

Choose the method that suits you best, and you’ll enjoy tomatoes more comfortably and cleanly.

Tomatoes Love Salt More Than Sugar!

Do you remember trying to make tasteless tomatoes delicious by sprinkling them with lots of sugar when you were younger? Tomatoes are generally less sweet, and the Culinary Brothers used to do the same thing, but it’s not recommended.

The reason is that sugar breakdown requires vitamin B. When you consume sugar with tomatoes, vitamin B is used only for sugar metabolism, preventing your body from absorbing the tomato’s vitamin B content.

Try sprinkling a little salt instead of sugar to enhance the flavor when you eat tomatoes. It increases the sweetness without compromising your vitamin intake.

So there you have it, a simple yet efficient way to cut tomatoes and make the most of their nutrients! Enjoy your tomatoes, and stay healthy.
