5 Tips to Simply Whiten Yellowed Clothes

wikitree Views

Summer means sweaty, yellowed clothes
Tips for keeping your whites clean

With the hot and humid weather continuing these days, the washing machine never gets a break. Even if you wash your shirts or hats in the washing machine with the sweat and sebum that are abundantly secreted, the inside of the clothes turns yellow. If you don’t want to throw away the discolored clothes and the cost of taking them to the laundry is a burden, pay attention to this article. Today, we will introduce a laundry method to revive white clothes that have turned yellow due to sweat and impurities.

1. Using Baking Soda

Mix baking soda and vinegar in a 1:1 ratio and try rubbing the collar and discolored areas of the shirt. If the yellowing is severe, you can soak it in boiling water with 3 tablespoons of baking soda and bleach for about 20 minutes. After that, rinse it or run it through the washing machine again to see the white clothes become clean.

2. Using Lemon Juice and Peel

Put about half a cup of lemon juice and wash the clothes or rub the discolored areas with lemon before rinsing and washing. The acidic components of lemon make the clothes white and also remove odors. It is also effective to put lemon peel when boiling laundry.

3. Using Bread and Egg

Put the yellowed white clothes in lukewarm water and rub the discolored areas with bread. Additionally, putting eggshells in a mesh bag and adding them to the washing machine can effectively remove collar stains from white clothes. This is because the calcium and tannin components of the eggshell absorb the pigments.

4. Bleaching with Sodium Bicarbonate

Using oxygen-based bleaching agents such as sodium bicarbonate is also a good method. Put the clothes in warm water above 50 degrees Celsius and stir well with sodium bicarbonate and neutral detergent in a 1:1 ratio. Soak the clothes for 10-20 minutes and then rinse them several times in clean water. After that, drying them in the sunlight helps the sodium bicarbonate react with UV rays and bleach the clothes.

5. What about makeup stains inside hats?

Removing makeup stains inside hats by putting them in the washing machine is not easy. In this case, mix salt and shampoo in a 1:1 ratio and gently rub the stained area. Using a soft toothbrush or similar tool can prevent damage to the fabric. When putting it in the washing machine, put it in a laundry bag to prevent the shape of the cap from being damaged, and wash it with other clothes.
