Boost Your Sponge Scrubber’s Utility with These Simple Cuts

butterpopcorn Views

Did you know that cutting a sponge can increase its utility?

What kind of sponge do you use for your dishes? I mostly use a sponge scrubber.

It seems to produce a good amount of foam with just a tiny amount of detergent, and its two different sides allow for gentle cleaning of glass or ceramic dishes on one side, while the scrubber side can be used for more demanding cleaning tasks.

However, there are times when this sponge scrubber is not ideal. Its rectangular shape makes it challenging to clean narrow, long bottles!

So today, I’ve brought some tips for those who also use sponge scrubbers. Just by cutting this scrubber, its utility can be significantly increased. From now on, I will cut my scrubber to use it.

Not only use the scrubber in the kitchen but also clean various places! Let’s get started with the cleaning!

1. Cleaning narrow bottles

As mentioned earlier, it’s inconvenient to clean narrow bottles with a sponge scrubber. In this case, if you cut the bottom part of the sponge, you can easily clean narrow bottles!

If you stick a fork in the cut part and use it, you can clean deep inside the bottle.

Instead of cutting the bottom part, you can also make a vertical cut on the sponge surface, insert a chopstick, and secure it with a rubber band to clean deep inside.

I found it more convenient to insert a chopstick and secure it with a rubber band so the sponge doesn’t fall off.

2. Cleaning narrow bottles

There’s a second method for cleaning narrow bottles. If a fork doesn’t work for deep, long bottles, try putting a magnet in the scrubber!

Thanks to the properties of the magnet, it won’t fall off and will follow along well, so if you have a magnet, try it out.

3. Window frame cleaning

Now, let’s clean the window frames! Window frames have gaps, and it’s possible to clean each one, but you want to finish cleaning quickly, right? The method to clean window frames at once is to use this sponge scrubber.

First, mark the gaps on the window frame with a pen and cut it with a knife. Since you’re not cutting it completely but spreading it for use, I recommend using a box cutter.

Then, wet it and clean the window frame. You can comfortably clean both sides of the window frame at once! I found it much more convenient than cleaning one by one with a cloth.

4. Fan cleaning

You don’t need the fan you put out in the summer now that it’s winter. You know that removing dust from the fan before and after taking it out is the most important thing, right? Even if you clean it with a shower, it’s hard to remove the dust stuck in between.

In this case, cut the scrubber densely with a box cutter. If you cut the sponge scrubber into a checkerboard pattern densely, the gaps open up, and if you clean the fan through these gaps, you have a perfect cleaning tool for the fan.

If you haven’t put away the fan, it would be good to clean it this way, right? I’ve already put mine away, so I plan to clean the dusty fan with this method next summer!

5. Where to place the scrubber after use

Where do you place the scrubber after washing the dishes? I usually put it at the end of the sink, but the water doesn’t dry properly, and I end up rewashing dishes. Are there any of you who place it at the end like me? This could lead to rapid bacterial growth.

Try this in such a case. For those of you who want to hang it somewhere but can’t find a suitable method, pay attention! First, cut a ‘ㄷ’ shape in the middle of the scrubber. Then, a hole will be created.

You can then hang the scrubber on the faucet. This method is recommended as the water dries quickly after using the sponge scrubber.

Today, I showed you how to increase the utility of the scrubber by cutting it in various ways. Isn’t it a great tip? From now on, let’s cut the sponge scrubber for cleaning!
