A man in Texas is facing charges for the murder of his 8-month-old daughter.

Burkburnett Police Department received a 911 call last May reporting, “My child is not breathing,” and responded immediately.

Upon arrival, the police lifted the child, who was submerged in the bathtub, but the 8-month-old infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities reported that at the time of the incident, the only adult present in the house was the child’s father, 20-year-old Justin Ray Kidwell.

The 20-year-old father was reportedly engrossed in playing a video game while his 8-month-old daughter was drowning in the bathtub.

The police investigated the child’s death over several months and found evidence that showed that Kidwell was immersed in a video game on his computer at the time of the incident.

Based on the timeline established by the police, an arrest warrant for murder charges was issued against Kidwell.

His bail has been set at $500,000.

The police stated that this incident serves as an example of how important parental supervision is.

The police added, “This horrific accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of parental supervision, especially when it comes to the safety and welfare of our children.”

They continued, “The deaths of young lives are always shocking, and many are sending their condolences for this heartbreaking incident.”
