Oily Hair Troubles? These Tips Will Keep Your Scalp Fresh

daily Views

Have you ever washed your hair in the morning only to find it greasy by evening? Not only is oily hair unattractive, but it can also lead to fungal growth on the scalp, which is unhealthy. So, how can you maintain soft, oil-free hair throughout the day?

Using Lemon Juice After Rinsing

If you’re bothered by too much grease, consider trying lemon juice. After rinsing, apply lemon juice to your hair to help ease the oiliness. The vitamin C contained in lemon suppresses the activity of the sebaceous glands, reducing the amount of sebum. A green tea pack can also help manage an oily scalp. The catechin in green tea has excellent antibacterial effects and can calm inflammation in the scalp.

Pre-shampoo Brushing

Do you brush your hair before washing it? It’s crucial to brush thoroughly to avoid oiliness. Use a comb to remove dust, debris, and oil from your hair. If these substances clog your pores, they can make your hair greasy and even contribute to hair loss. For longer hair, brush from the ends, sectioning it off rather than starting from the roots.

Focusing on Vitamin E

Spicy, salty foods and meats with high saturated fats and alcohol can stimulate sebum secretion in the scalp, so limiting consumption is better. Eating foods rich in Vitamin E and unsaturated fatty acids can widen blood vessels and promote blood circulation, smoothly providing nutrients to the scalp. Vitamin E can be consumed through vegetable oils, and unsaturated fatty acids are abundantly found in mackerel, salmon, and avocados.

Sebum Control Shampoo Can Be Helpful

If you have a lot of sebum on your scalp, you should use a shampoo for oily hair or a deep cleansing shampoo to remove the oil. After using an oily hair shampoo, the cuticle layer on the hair surface can become rough, so you should use a treatment product. It’s worth noting that the treatment ingredients can block the pores and cause hair loss, so be cautious not to touch the scalp when rinsing. When rinsing your hair, use warm water slightly above body temperature to ensure the oil is well rinsed.

Which Shampoo Should I Use?

If you still feel uncomfortable and itchy after washing your hair, how about trying a different shampoo? Especially for oily scalp types, choosing a slightly acidic product with a pH between 5.5 and 6.5 is good. Slightly acidic shampoos, similar to healthy skin pH, help regulate the moisture and oil balance of the scalp and prevent excessive sebum production. Also, products without synthetic surfactants that can cause rashes, itching, and hives are recommended.

Thoroughly Drying the Scalp

It’s essential to thoroughly dry your scalp after washing your hair, especially if you have an oily scalp. Tieing your hair or going to bed before it’s completely dry can effortlessly breed bacteria and, in severe cases, cause scalp inflammation. After washing your hair, wrap it with a towel and press firmly to remove all the moisture, then let it dry.

Try A Shampoo Pack if Your Scalp Pack is Causing Trouble

To have thick and strong hair, the first thing necessary should be to take care of the scalp and the roots of the hair. But if you find it tedious to do a scalp pack regularly, how about trying a shampoo pack when you have some free time before washing your hair? Anyone can easily pack shampoo by following the ‘333 Principle’. First, soak your hair thoroughly in lukewarm water for 3 minutes, then leave the shampoo foam on your hair for 3 minutes, and finally rinse thoroughly for 3 minutes. When applying the shampoo foam, you should take it in your hand and use it thoroughly from the back of your head to the front. Massaging a scalp while leaving it for 3 minutes would be even better.

The Effectiveness of a Shampoo Pack

While the 3 minutes mentioned for a shampoo pack may seem short, it requires some slight effort to do correctly. Shampoos contain many cleaning ingredients that help treat hair damage, elasticity, and shine. These ingredients need a specific duration to be absorbed into the hair. Therefore, the most crucial aspect is to rinse after enough time has passed so that the ingredients that assist the health of the hair and scalp can be absorbed well.

Avoiding Stress

Not only exterior factors but mental fatigue and stress can also cause scalp inflammation. Consistently aiming to keep a calm mind, dealing with stress, and guaranteeing adequate sleep contribute to maintaining a healthy scalp metabolism.

Scalp Massage to Help Blood Circulation

One suitable habit to prevent hair loss is scalp massage, which helps blood circulation. Use the fingertips of your thumb and middle finger to press the scalp as if you’re massaging it lightly. Follow along the eyebrow mountain, up where the hairline starts, and massage in both directions. Rotate in one direction 10 times and the same for the opposite direction. Feel free to use the same method for the temple area.
