Survey Results of 536 Divorced Individuals Seeking Remarriage
What factors do divorced individuals considering remarriage prioritize?
Only-You, a company specializing in remarriage information, in collaboration with Bien Aller, a marriage information firm represented by Son Dong Gyu, conducted a survey from the 25th to the 30th of the previous month. The survey targeted 536 divorced individuals across the nation, comprising 268 men and 268 women, who expressed a desire to remarry(late-life remarriage).
The survey asked, “What are the essential aspects to verify about a potential partner before deciding to marry again?” Interestingly, men and women displayed different priorities.
Men predominantly selected ‘mutual roles after remarriage (28.7%)’ as their top choice, followed by ‘assets and income (24.6%)’. Conversely, women placed greater importance on ‘assets and income (36.6%),’ with ‘mutual roles after remarriage (23.5%)’ ranking second. Both genders ranked ‘health examination results’ third, with 21.6% for men and 15.7% for women.
Other considerations included ‘form of marriage (legal or de facto: 16.5%)’ for men and ‘(reasons for divorce from a previous spouse (14.9%)’ for women, ranking fourth.
An Only-You representative explained, “Among women aspiring to remarry, especially those in their 50s and 60s, many express reluctance to utilize their assets for remarriage life or undertake household responsibilities. Consequently, men seek to discern and exclude such individuals as much as possible. Most divorced women prioritize financial stability when selecting a remarriage partner, meticulously scrutinizing current assets and anticipated income for the present and future.”
Son Dong Gyu, CEO of Only-You, advised, “Divorced individuals approaching remarriage, regardless of gender, harbor concerns about the prospect of another marital failure. Adhering to fundamental principles and exercising prudence throughout the courtship phase is essential. They must rigorously assess their compatibility as spouses while employing effective strategies.”
