Singapore Hotel Offers Refund for Rainy Days – Here’s Why

Daniel Kim Views

InterContinental Hotel in Singapore has launched a unique accommodation package for its guests.

The hotel has introduced the Rain Resist Bliss package, which compensates guests for one day of their stay if it rains while at the hotel.

Singapore has a high rainfall rate, averaging 171 rainy days per year. Andreas Kraemer, the hotel’s general manager, explained that the package was designed to alleviate travelers’ inconvenience caused by frequent rain. He said, “The quality of travel begins with good weather.”

To take advantage of this package, guests must meet certain conditions the hotel sets. Firstly, guests must stay in a suite or higher category room. Additionally, it must rain for more than 120 cumulative minutes between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. However, only the time measured within four hours of when the rain begins is recognized. For example, guests can receive a refund if it rains between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. (90 minutes) and continues to rain between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (30 minutes).

Guests who meet these conditions will receive a voucher. This voucher, equivalent to the price of the room they stayed in, must be used within six months exclusively at the InterContinental Hotel in Singapore.

The general manager, Andreas Kraemer, recommended visiting the Asian Civilizations Museum in Singapore or touring the Tiger Brewery if it rains during the trip.
