Even though the heat of summer hasn’t started yet, we can already see people wearing short sleeves, and before long, it will be time to pack away all our long-sleeved clothes.
Everyone faces a common problem during the upcoming summer season: the smell of sweat. The more sweat soaks into your clothes, the more unpleasant the odor becomes. You might have experienced a lingering smell even after washing your clothes during the rainy season.
For such times, there are seven effective ways to remove sweat smells from clothes.
First, you should use warm water when washing your clothes. Just using warm water during laundry can be helpful. However, check the clothing label before washing to see if the fabric can be cleaned with warm water.
The second method involves using disinfectant. Since the disinfectant might leave a strong smell on the clothes, rinse them in clean water to remove the disinfectant smell, and then dry them in the sun.
The third method is to mix 2-3 teaspoons of vinegar in a bucket of water, then soak the sweat-soaked clothes in it for about 30 minutes. After that, wash the clothes as usual, and you’ll find that the smell comes out more quickly.
The fourth method is to pour fabric softener during the washing machine’s final rinse cycle. Add a teaspoon of vinegar if you’re worried about allergies or the smell being too strong.
The fifth method involves using a mixture of baking soda and water. Apply the mixture to the sweaty areas, wait 10–15 minutes, and wash the clothes.
The sixth method involves using vodka. Mix vodka and water in a 1:3 ratio, spray it on the areas with sweat stains, and then wash the clothes. This will also help remove stains.
Lastly, if you’ve sweated, you should wash your clothes immediately. Washing them immediately is more effective than leaving them in the laundry basket with other garments. The longer you leave them, the harder it becomes to remove the smell.
