10 Eco-Friendly Ways to Reuse Expired Perfume

daily Views

What if you have a leftover perfume that you haven’t used much, and its expiration date has passed? Perfume’s shelf life is about three years, and people who don’t use perfume often tend to have leftovers. If you impulsively bought a perfume and feel it’s too wasteful to throw away but unlikely to be used if kept, why not recycle the remaining perfume?

Sticker Removal

Stickers often leave residue even when carefully removed, and this residue is hard to get rid of. If you try to remove it improperly, it can leave a more distinct sticker mark. If you have expired perfume, lightly spray it on the area with sticker residue and wipe it off with a wet wipe. The marks disappear as if by magic.

Spray on Letters

Perfume sprayed on paper lasts subtly for a long time. Not only letters but also reports, proposals, memos to friends, etc., can be an excellent way to recycle leftover perfume. You could also spray it on a book you carry or a favorite notebook. However, spray from a distance to avoid stains.

Mix with Body Cream

If you have an unscented body cream or one with a weak fragrance, it’s a good idea to try using it by spraying a little perfume. This has a longer-lasting fragrance than the scent in lotion or cream, and even a tiny amount of perfume can provide a rich fragrance for a long time.

Spray on Business Cards

Why not try spraying your business cards with leftover perfume when meeting someone for business purposes? Business cards are often discarded immediately after being received, but if they smell good, they can help imprint you in the recipient’s memory. Also, keeping a perfume-sprayed business card in your wallet can help eliminate the smell inside the wallet.

A Drop After Shampoo

Even if you wash your hair in the morning, it’s natural for a smell to rise from your scalp over time. If you want a continuous fragrance, it’s recommended that you drop one or two drops of perfume during the rinsing process. You can maintain a fragrant head all day with just a drop or two. Another method is to mix a little perfume with hair mist or essence.

Closet Freshener

Instead of a commercial air freshener, why not hang scented papers sprayed with perfume in a musty closet? This is a perfect fit if you dislike the typical smell of air fresheners! Even if you don’t spray the perfume directly on the clothes, it feels as if you sprayed perfume, and it’s not too strong so that it can play the role of a closet freshener.

Use in the Last Rinse of Laundry

Did you know you can use perfume instead of fabric softener? Expired perfume can transform into a subtly fragrant fabric softener. The laundry will also be fragrant, allowing you to maintain a fragrant mood after washing. The lingering scent will subtly last long, allowing you to change your mood.

Transform into a Diffuser

If you need a diffuser, you don’t need to buy one. All you need is leftover perfume. Prepare an empty glass bottle, ethanol, and wooden sticks. Pour the perfume into the glass bottle, and mix the diffuser base sold in the market or ethanol sold in pharmacies at 3:7 or 4:6. Adjust the concentration to suit your preference and create a beautiful diffuser!

Shoe Cabinet Deodorizer

If you find making or repurposing things bothersome, simply opening the perfume bottle and placing it where deodorization is needed can work as an air freshener. Especially useful in a shoe cabinet, it subtly scents the shoes, providing a dual benefit without modifying the existing perfume.

Add to Steam Ironing Water

When ironing, it’s common to spritz water using a spray bottle. Adding perfume to the iron’s water compartment enhances this process. The heat from ironing helps infuse the scent deeply into the fabric, allowing the pleasant smell to last longer.
