Plant-Based Burger That Tastes Like Human Meat Hits the Market

Daniel Kim Views

A hamburger designed to mimic the taste of human meat has recently been introduced.

A European plant-based meat brand, Oumph!, has developed a hamburger that tastes similar to human meat. The Human Meat Plant-Based Burger was sold from the scariest plant-based food truck in Stockholm, Sweden, during last year’s Halloween season. Since then, it has become a hot topic after its promotional video on YouTube went viral.

The commercial opens with a gloomy scene of a chef frying meat in a dimly lit kitchen. The Spanish ad agency LOLA MullenLowe created this ad, reminiscent of a horror movie scene. The video won a silver award at the Cannes Lions Festival, often called the Olympics of the advertising industry.

The human-tasting burger was created to showcase the taste and quality of plant-based meat. The company explained, “We wanted to convince meat lovers that plant-based products can mimic the taste of any meat.”

Henrik Åkerman, a global brand leader at Oumph!, stated that their mission is to change how people eat and use creativity to facilitate this change.

The human-tasting burger is made from plant-based proteins and fats such as soybeans, wheat, mushrooms, and spices. Ankan “The Duck” Linden, co-founder and chef at Oumph! revealed, “We developed this burger as soon as we realized the taste and texture we were aiming for.” The company assured, “There were no casualties in developing the burger.”
