5 Daily Habits to Keep Your Liver Happy and Healthy—You’ll Be Surprised

wikitree Views

The liver, one of the body’s largest and most vital organs, is crucial in maintaining overall health. Here are five daily habits to help keep your liver in top shape:

News1

1. Get Vaccinated

Vaccination is essential for protecting against liver infections. Hepatitis A and B vaccines are recommended, especially for those with weakened immune systems or existing liver conditions. While there is no vaccine for Hepatitis C, a healthy lifestyle is crucial for prevention.

2. Drink Coffee

Regular coffee consumption has a positive impact on liver health. Drinking one or two cups of coffee a day can lower the risk of liver cancer, liver fibrosis, and cirrhosis. Espresso, drip coffee, or instant coffee—any form of coffee can benefit the liver.

3. Be Cautious with Medications

Overuse of drugs containing acetaminophen can burden the liver, so it’s essential not to exceed 4,000 mg per day. Statins and antibiotics like amoxicillin can also stress the liver when taken in excess. If you notice fatigue, nausea, itching, or if your skin and eyes turn yellow after taking medication, consult a doctor immediately.

4. Eat Healthily

Regularly including colorful fruits and vegetables in your diet provides essential vitamins and fiber supporting liver health. Choose whole grains over refined carbohydrates and lean meats over processed meats. Additionally, incorporating nuts and fish rich in unsaturated fats can help protect the liver.

5. Maintain Good Hygiene

Always wash your hands with soap for at least 30 seconds to prevent liver infections before preparing food or using the restroom. Proper hand-washing is crucial not only for liver health but also for overall hygiene.
