A large-scale ski resort is set to be built in Neom City, a futuristic new city currently being constructed in the desert near the Red Sea in northwestern Saudi Arabia. Euronews reported that Saudi Arabia is constructing a ski resort in the mountainous region of Neom City.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stated, “Neom City will be larger than Abu Dhabi.” Neom City is divided into four regions: Trojena, Oxagon, The Line, and Sindalah. Trojena is a tourist resort, Oxagon is a port and advanced industrial complex, The Line is a residential area, and Sindalah is a resort island.

Trojena Ski Resort in Neom City will allow tourists to enjoy outdoor skiing and various activities, with an estimated slope length of 36 km. On average, the Neom region is about 10°C (50°F) cooler than other cities in Saudi Arabia. In winter, temperatures drop below 0°C (32°F), creating conditions suitable for snowmaking. A desalination system will be used to generate powder snow for the resort’s slopes. Neom project manager Clark Williams stated, “In our snowmaking, we’re going to utilize as many sustainable resources as possible, whether that’s solar or whether that’s wind power.”

The Trojena ski resort will also feature restaurants and a luxury spa. It is expected to be completed by late 2026 or early 2027. Neom City’s tourism director, Niall Gibbons, mentioned that Neom City is expected to attract around 3.5 million tourists by 2030.
