The world’s largest indoor “Ice Theme Park” has officially opened in Harbin, China.
According to reports from CNN and other media outlets, the opening ceremony for the indoor ice theme park, Harbin Ice and Snow World, was held in July in Harbin, China.
Harbin Ice and Snow World features nine themed zones focused on ice, light, and shadows and 13 experiential event spaces. It also displays ice sculptures of food items like fruits, ice cream, and cakes made using special edible dyes. The park offers various attractions, such as ice slides.
A Harbin Ice and Snow World representative stated, “On the first day alone, more than 3,000 people visited Harbin Ice and Snow World. To welcome visitors, we plan to continuously maintain temperatures between minus 8°C and 12°C throughout the year.”
The theme park spans approximately 23,800 square meters, slightly larger than the 22,000 square meters of the Daegwallyeong Snow Festival, a winter event held annually in South Korea. A Guinness World Records representative said, “Harbin Ice and Snow World is the largest indoor ice theme park in history,” presented the park’s operators with a certificate recognizing it as the “World’s Largest Indoor Ice and Snow Theme Park.”
Located in China’s northernmost city, Harbin is famously known as the City of Snow due to its long winters and short summers. The annual Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival, the Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan, and the Quebec Winter Carnival in Canada are considered among the top three winter festivals in the world.
