Angélique Angarni-Filopon is the oldest contestant to win the Miss France title. On Saturday, she was crowned the 2025 Miss France winner in Paris.

At 34 years old, Angarni-Filopon, who hails from the French Caribbean island of Martinique, has shattered the previous record for the pageant’s oldest winner. Until 2022, the Miss France competition had an age limit, restricting participation to women between 18 and 24. This year, however, the organizers lifted the age restrictions, allowing contestants between 18 and 34 to compete. A total of 30 women participated in this year’s competition.

In her acceptance speech, Angarni-Filopon expressed both pride and gratitude, saying, “In 2011, a young woman aged 20 finished first runner up in the Miss Martinique competition. Today, it’s the same young woman aged 34 who stands before you to again represent Martinique, its diaspora as well as all the women who were once told that it was too late.”

Beauty pageants have long faced criticism for promoting narrow, one-dimensional beauty standards. In response to growing calls for more inclusivity, the Miss France organizers have eliminated several outdated criteria. These include the age limit and restrictions based on marital status and whether contestants have children.
