A recent report has revealed that Aeroméxico leads the world in on-time departure rates among airlines.

On Thursday, Cirium, a leading aviation data firm, released statistics showing that Aeroméxico secured the top spot with an impressive 87% on-time departure rate. Saudi Arabian Airlines followed closely at 86%.

On-time departures are flights that take off within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time. Notably, no airline exceeded the 90% threshold, with Aeroméxico’s rate standing as the highest.

Cirium, which has tracked on-time performance for 16 years, noted that airlines faced significant challenges last year. Among the major disruptions were severe weather conditions and widespread airport system outages during the summer months, which impacted flight schedules globally.

Among North American airlines, Delta Air Lines led with an 83.46% on-time rate. United Airlines (80.93%), Alaska Airlines (79.25%), and American Airlines (77.78%) were the next top performers in the region.

In terms of airports, Mexico City’s Benito Juárez International Airport and Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport in Peru shared the top spot, both with on-time departure rates exceeding 84%.
